Aaron Snowberger is a programmer, data scientist in training, graphic designer, and educator residing in Jeonju, South Korea since 2006.

In 2021, I was accepted as an Information & Communications Engineering PhD student at Hanbat National University in Daejeon, South Korea. I’m currently studying topics such as Computer Vision, Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Data Science, and App Development.

My main research interests (2021) include: Manchu Language, Korean Language, Computer Vision, and sports & exercise science (big data & computer vision).

Development

I’ve been building and managing client websites since 2009 and have made multiple contributions to Open Source projects like WordPress. I’m proficient in HTML5, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress; a competent user of Python, R, React, React Native, Node.JS, and various other JavaScript and CSS libraries and frameworks; and have taught website design and development as part of the core technology curriculum in GPA International High School from 2013-2019. Since then, I’ve made some online coding courses, and had various special lectures on coding languages in other schools.

My current coding interests (2021) are: React, Gatsby, Node.JS, Python, R, and React Native. I hope to learn Kotlin soon as well and get deeper into app development.

Design

I’m also an experienced graphic designer specializing in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. I’ve freelanced since 2011 and have professional experience creating business cards, brochures, ads, flyers, posters, banners, t-shirts, logos, websites, branded materials, newsletters, magazines, books, and more. Since 2018, I’ve been the graphic designer for the quarterly publication of the Jeonbuk Life magazine put out by the Jeollabuk-do Center for International Affairs (JBCIA). I additionally taught graphic design and computer literacy courses at GPA High School from 2014-2019.

My current design interests (2021) are: magazine layout and design, photo manipulation, and logos and branding.

Education

I’m an experienced ESL teacher in Korea where I’ve taught in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to adult (all ages) since 2006. I’ve taught conversational English and Speech/Presentation classes to university students since 2010 at Jeonju University. Additionally, I’ve taught TOEIC Speaking, TOEFL Writing, Speaking, and Reading, Drama, and Debate from 2007-2013. From 2012-2013 and again from 2019, I’ve also taught “Smart Learning” and “Technology for Teachers” courses in the Teacher Training programs at both Jeonju University and Jeonbuk National University. Since 2017, I’ve also been a Google Certified Educator specializing in Computer Science and G Suite, and have given various lectures on Google for Education topics at conferences, workshops, and schools around the country.

My current educational interests (2021) include: creating online video courses in computer coding, graphic design, data science, and Technology for Teachers.
